https://www.poppyandfinch.com/workshops-events/birdbath
Saturday, August 24th, 5-6pm OR 7-8pm (5 spots per session)
Plural Collective: 8012 SE 13th Avenue, Portland, OR 97202 (@pluralcollectivepdx)
Did you know that I love collaborating with local artists, especially the ones who share the same ecological values? This workshop was born out of my idea of making a birdbath/feeder out of natural material & giving English Ivy a new purpose that’s serving our habitat (instead of taking over our native habitat).
Lise is an amazing artist who has been creating lots of beautiful baskets & other creative containers using ivy & other natural material. I took her class & it inspired me to do this workshop! @yaardvaark
Only 5 spots for each session (I prefer small workshops to create better connection, learning experience and engagement).
What’s included:
• Curated materials/supplies
• Educational talk about native plants + their role to our habitat (important + fun facts)
• A hand-out of tips + resources including information about native plants, local organizations and native nurseries
• You take home your own unique bird bath/feeder
• Refreshing beverage included or wine available for purchase from @cellardogwoof
Lise Gervais (she/her):
Volunteer Program Coordinator, Friends of Mt. Tabor Weed Warriors.
As a restoration volunteer for the last decade, I found myself loathing the displacement of native ecosystems caused by the introduction of species like English ivy. But I’ve come to admire its tenacity, strength, & flexibility. Finding ways to bend it into unique & useful things has turned my loathing into respect but I still want to remove it wherever I have the chance.
Cancellations must be received 5 days in advance. No refunds or credit will be given with less than 5 days notice.
